Any muscles can strain (or tear) but probably the most common are
the high speed and load muscles such as
your hamstrings, thigh
(quadriceps), calf, back and biceps. A strain is a tear in the muscle.
Muscle strains are graded 1, 2 or 3 depending on the severity of the
damage done. It is important you understand what damage has been done
so you can treat the injury correctly.
In simple terms a grade 1 tear is a mild strain, grade 2 moderate and grade 3 severe or complete rupture.
Treatment varies depending on the severity.
