Muscle Stretches

Muscle stretches are important if your physiotherapist has detected that your muscle length is shortened.
The downside of short or tight muscles is the distortion and stressful forces that these muscles place upon the underlying joints and structures, which results in pain.
Sometimes these muscles overwork and repeatedly tighten due to your body not providing any joint control via normal alternate muscle groups. It is important to be thoroughly assessed to ensure that weak or underactive muscles are strengthened to help balance your muscle control around a joint.
For your specific muscle length assessment and prescription of the best stretches for you, please contact your physiotherapist.
